OK, I know what you are thinking. Way too many baseball card blogs on here lately. Well as that is true, this review is more of a giant thank you to the author of Wax Heaven blog. As many of you know I started my sports card blog earlier this week Awesomely Bad Wax, and thanks to Mario for single handedly making my hit counts jump from none to over 200 in 4 days. Wax Heaven is your one stop shop for all things baseball card related. It’s updated quite frequently, anywhere to 3-4 times a day which is real nice, when you are hoping to find something new to read. Since it is a WordPress based blog, it’s fairly easy to navigate and his readers leave many comments which is real nice to have on your blog (hint, hint, nudge, nudge). He discusses everything from prospect watch to eBay auctions to reviewing new card sets. He is very accessible, I have exchanged emails with him a few times and he takes his time when writing for his blog. The site is a great idea, and I hope it springboards him to a regular role on the Beckett card site. Since I know he would love to have that.
I really meant to review this site a loooooooong time ago, but it always slipped my mind. re you into gadgets? I mean really really into gadgets? If so, then this is definitely your website. Gizmodo, is a blog that chronicles everything new about gadgets on the market. One of the things I am really into is watches, I love high tech and wierd looking watches. Every month or so I head on over to Gizmodo just to see what the latest and greatest is. Also I like seeing what new ideas they have overheard over at Apple, and what new video technology is out. In essence it stuff magazine that updates 3 – 4 times a day and is way more entertaining. If you can think of a new gadget or even if you are curious as to what the next big tech toy is going to be you owe it to yourself to go to Gizmodo and check it out.
Don’t forget to visit my other blog Awesomely Bad Wax.
Now I know what you are thinking, WordPress is not going to like this, but there is another web based blog site out there where you also don’t need to know programming. It’s called Tumblr. I get a lot of people asking me is it hard to blog? How long do you take out of each day to blog? Is it hard to set up the posts? The answers are very simple. It is incredibly easy to blog, sites like WordPress and Tumblr have done all the hard work for you, they have great templates (which you can change if you want), the navigation in the website is a piece of cake and the help sections are fantastic. Tumblr has more templates than WordPress and from what I could tell is even easier to use (if that is possible). I like the step by step guide in setting up a blog, so much so that I think even my mom could set up her own blog on this. Not only is it easy to set up one blog but you can have multiple blogs like me (shamelss plug for other blog coming up), my other blog is BadWax. Told you it was shameless. If you have always wanted to try out a blog and see if it’s right for you, try it on Tumblr.
The new top 10 list has been put up, also the reviewed links page has been deleted. I think I am going to revamp that at some point, but it might just be used for the most popular sites. The truth is I haven’t updated it in two months and the list was going to need a second page very soon. Any ideas on how I could make it better let me know.
Also added my Lemonade stand on my promote / support this blog. Please feel free to let me know what you want on there. It doesn’t give me much but at least its something. I tried to put only cheap / good deals on there. So you give to the blog and get something in return 🙂
I have also started a second blog entitled Awesomely Bad Wax, this site will chronicle my adventures in the world of sports card collecting. Since I seem to only buy awful packs of cards, I thought I would chronicle just how bad each pack was. I plan to write everyday on this blog as well.
Usually after a long day at work at our respective jobs, my wife sit and talk about what we hate. Trust me this list is long, so I thought about starting my own blog talking about things I hate and why I hate them. Then I stumbled across I Hate This! Which is a daily blog about hating everything. I’ve read a bunch of her entries and they are hysterical. She works in a toy store, so you know she has thick skin, but toy store in Christmas, I must bow to her because I know I would never have that kind of patience. Some of her titles of her blogs are:
– I hate Christmas
– I hate Dallas Green’s voice
– I hate TV
– I hate those who waste gas
Lot’s of hate from this person. That’s OK in my book, it might be preventing her from going postal. Reminds me of the Wekkly World News Ed Anger editorials and I like. Funnel your rage through her blog, who knows it might even calm you down.
Everyone in their lifetime will have at least one crazy roommate. If it hasn’t happened in your life yet, trust me it will. I have actually had 2 crazy roommates. My favorite . . . let me call her M, charged me for utilities, 3 months after I moved out, then reported me to collection agents to collect the money. I know you are thinking, why would she do that? Well M and I never saw eye to eye, and in the end I had to move out, but I told her that I would pay for one month’s rent and utilities since I only gave her one month’s notice. She took this to mean that she can collect from me until she finds a new roommate. Nothing like getting nasty phone calls at work that I owe 500 bucks (even though I don’t). It all finally ended about 6 months after I left and I was remitting the 500 bucks in one dollar a month installments. She gave up after 3 months and told me to perform an action on myself that is nearly impossible. Anyways the reason I brought this up was that I found a blog today that reminds me of my clashes with M it’s My Crazy Roommate. There are lots of posts to keep you fully amused I found myself laughing out loud several times. It’s just nice to know that some things are always the same, crazy roommates.
The site is called Jalopnik: Obsessed With the Cult of Cars. I think that spells the site out well. It’s a fun site that talks about all things cars. The latest news, the latest models, and his latest projects from hell. Come on everyone at one point in their life either considered a project car or even went on and bought one. The point is you aren’t alone, it’s ok to be a gear head! They have info on secret cars, prototype cars, you name it they have it and they have some great reviews about cars that are years away from production.
This week’s top ten has been updated, I still have to take care of entering some of the more recent posts into the reviewed links page. It’s been very difficult the last couple of days simply because I am at a conference that has been draining my attention. I felt terrible that I couldn’t get a post in yesterday, the first time since the inception of the blog I missed a daily post. Anyways I hope that won’t happen again anytime soon. Thanks again for making this a routine stop on your surfing list.
You all know how much I love flash games. Paul and Dave’s Novel Concepts, is a blog where the talk about their upcoming games and also the games they currently have. At first glance you want to just pass on this blog, as it’s very plain not a lot of flash (no pun intended) but just read it and see what these guys have done. It simply can’t be missed. I am going to post seperate entries as to their games but I really wanted to give everyone a heads up as to the blog. Here is a list of the games they have developed:
Flash Circle TD
Flash Element TD
B asically TD stands for Tower Defense. Where you insert towers on the board and they shoot at your enemies Hit, them enough times and they die, but you always have to upgrade your defenses and add more because the enemies become difficult to kill and sometimes they get through, enough get through and your game is over. Play it once and you will loose yourself in the game.
I love talking cars. It wasn’t always this way, but I have several gearheads down here that I am friends with and whenever there is a problem with someone’s car, we throw it up and jacks and take care of the problem. It’s alot different from where I grew up in NJ, where if you had a problem you take it to a mechanic. Around here, most of the guys are novice mechanics and can usually do the lighter jobs. Anyways, back to the website review. Autoblog is a very fun website to visit simply to see cars reviewed that you will never own. That’s actually not entirely true, there is basically alot of good auto news and reviews. Like the upcoming models for 2009, or how about the new Tesla electric car. It’s all here for you to enjoy.
